Number Your House
In an emergency time is critical. Responding fire, police & EMS units must be able to locate your residence or place of business quickly.
Protect yourself, your family and your co-workers, follow these simple rules:
-
Post your house or building numbers on your front door and at the entrance to your property (mailbox or sign)
-
Numbers must be at least 3" in height, use plain block lettering and be made of a reflective material for night viewing
-
For a mailbox or driveway sign, numbers must be clearly visible from the road by cars traveling in both directions
-
If you have no mailbox, or your mailbox does not properly identify your driveway (ex. mailbox on the opposite side of road), you must use a driveway sign
-
Do not place numbers on utility poles or state, County, town, Village sign posts
-
Additional guidance and confirmation of your legal address can be obtained by calling Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services (845) 808-4000
