PATTERSON – Firefighters quickly extinguished a fast-moving garage blaze, stopping it from spreading to an attached house Saturday afternoon. The fire, reported shortly after 2 p.m. at 282 Cushman Road, started in the two-car attached garage. Firefighters cut holes in the roof to help stop the fire from spreading, and extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes.
Patterson firefighters were assisted by Putnam Lake, Lake Carmel and Pawling crews. A firefighter suffered a minor injury to his leg. No other injuries were reported.
The Putnam County Fire Investigation Team also responded and will work to determine the cause of the blaze. Patterson Fire-Police closed Cushman Road in both directions during the incident
