Today at approximately 1710hrs the Putnam Lake Fire Department was alerted to a capsized canoe with 3 occupants in the water near Lake Shore Drive and Fulton Drive. Fire Chief James Gagliardo Jr. arrived on scene, assuming command, and made contact with the boaters. The boaters were fishing and leaned to far over the edge capsizing the boat, no injuries were reported but assistance was needed to get to shore. 23-8-2 launched our recently purchased R-One Rescue Boat 23-marine-1 at Warren Beach and made way to the boaters. 23-6-1 and 23-1-2 responded to Interlaken Beach to assist offloading the boaters. 23-M-1 assisted the boaters and their boat to Interlaken Beach. No one was injured in this accident. All units returned to service at 1740hrs. The new 23-Marine-1 worked like a charm on its maiden voyage.
